Posted on September 20, 2013

The Unicef office in South Africa opened in 1994 to address the obstacles that poverty, violence, disease and discrimination place in a child’s path. Ms De Villiers shared knowledge about Unicef and the main marketing techniques they use with the BCom (Marketing Management) first-year students as part of the Specialised Applications course. “The lecture was truly an amazing experience that was both edifying and enlightening”, said Rikus Bosch, one of the first-year students.

Ms De Villiers provided a broad overview on not-for-profit marketing really cut to the bone, exposing students not only to different marketing techniques, but also to daily needs and causes. The students participated in the lecture by expressing their views on different marketing campaigns. They were also challenged to learn from Unicef and other non-profit organisations alike and to get involved.
