A draft curriculum transformation framework has been developed by the Curriculum Transformation Work Stream (CTWS) during the course of several meetings.
View the draft curriculum transformation framework.
Please be informed that the CTWS will be undertaking a ‘roadshow’ to all faculties within the next three weeks. The purpose for the ‘roadshows’ will be to engage with faculties’ responses to the framework. Your Faculty’s responses to the following questions will also form part of the CTWS’s engagement with your faculty:
- What issues would you consider in seeking to re-define and evaluate the current curriculum in your Faculty in relation to, but not limited to, the four drivers listed in the attached? You may wish to pay attention to good practices as well as major gaps within your curriculum in its present form.
- How would you describe challenges and limitations unique to your Faculty in pushing for curriculum transformation in light of, but not limited to, the four drivers in the attached? You may wish to consider issues pertaining to the nature and history of specific disciplines, influence of professional bodies, gender and racial stereotypes, and practical issues relating to resources and the demands of the world of work.
- How would curriculum transformation, with specific emphasis on the context of learning, epistemological diversity, renewal of classroom practices, and social justice be approached in your Faculty?
- What are your Faculty’s plans moving forward, in terms of curriculum transformation? Develop a curriculum transformation implementation plan inclusive of a time-line.
Following feedback from the faculties and after the ‘roadshows’, the final Curriculum Transformation Framework document will be developed. Please do contact the office of Professor Norman Duncan, Vice-Principal: Academic, should you require any clarification concerning the above.
