It is the responsibility of researchers to ensure that they stay updated on the relevant UP policies and South African legislation. Researchers working with children should ensure that they comply with the Children's Act, whereas research who work with vulnerable groups or in medical contexts should comply with the Health Act.

The University is reviewing and updating all of its research data management policies and processes and has created three videos to help researchers prepare for these changes:

• ‘Introducing the ASSAf POPIA Code of Conduct for Research’: All research involving personal information will be subject to the coming ASSAf POPIA Code of Conduct for Research. In this video, we provide an overview of what is coming.
