  • Avasha Rambiritch (Humanities Writing Centre) delivered the keynote address, titled Navigating the social turn: Reimaging space and safety in the South African writing centre at the Canadian Writing Centre Conference

 

  • Benda Hofmeyr (Philosophy) was part of the Horasis Global Meeting’s panel discussion on Ethics in an Age of Catastrophes

 

 

 

  • Marc Wegerif (Anthropology, Archaeology & Development Studies) presented the findings from a 12 country study on the governance of land tenure, fisheries and forests at the 2022 Global Land Forum

 

  • Miles Warrington (School of the Arts) co-presented a workshop at the National and Kapodistrian University (Athens, Greece) on compositional processes in electroacoustic music that uses insect sound and stochastic computer models

 

 

 

Scheduled Events

  • The Department of Afrikaans’ virtual seminar on Prof Menán du Plessis’ (Stellenbosch University) paper The Khoisan languages of southern Africa: some of the basics – and some of the debates.   • The Centre for Mediation in Africa and Department of Political Sciences’ seminar on War in the Ukraine: Causes and Consequences, with Prof Hubert Zimmermann (Philipps University of Marburg) as speaker.
