Please join me in congratulating our colleague Carlos Tirado Taipe (Ancient and Modern Languages and Cultures) who graduates with his PhD this week! 

I would also like to acknowledge Jonathan Cane (Archaeology & Anthropology) who, together with his research team Euclides Goncalves and Lindsay Bremner, received an Indian Ocean Transregional planning grant from the Social Science Research Council for their project on “Sounding the Monsson”.

• Siona O’Connell’s opinion article “Heritage Day must acknowledge the trauma of the dispossessed” was posted in the Tukkievaria, and her film premiere was covered in “Examining slavery and Christianity” in the Sunday Tribune, “Slave Church focus of film on slave history, religion” in the Weekend Argus, and “Cape’s Slave Church takes centre stage in new film” in the Sunday Independent. • Roland Henwood (Political Sciences) was interviewed on RSG discussing Brexit troubles and the opposition it faces
• Jonathan Okeke (Philosophy) published the article on The Conversationalist Blog entitled “Reconsider your ‘Reconsideration of the Decolonisation Project’: A Reply to Rafael Winkler”
• Sithembile Mbete (Political Sciences) appeared on Newzroom Afrika to discuss the impact of the US elections
• The Psyche Society was profiled in the PDBY and has released three new podcasts – discussions with “Anthony Townsend, Clinical Psychologist & Guest Lecturer”, “Ms Nkateko Ndala-Magoro, Counselling Psychologist & Guest Lecturer” and “Adelene van Rooyen, 3^rd tear Psychology student”
