The outcomes of the course are:

  • To integrate gender issues in every day life
  • To explore how traditional ideas and attitudes about gender affect women’s and men’s access to resources and decision-making
  • To understand why gender sensitivity and awareness are important to social development
  • To understand the intersections between gender and transformation
  • To understand the relationship between gender and disability
  • To understand the importance of a gender awareness in the workplace

The content for the course includes:

  • Conceptual clarification / Dimensions of diversity
  • Gender, sexuality & sexual orientation
  • Transformational leadership: the issues and tasks
  • Gender and Development
  • Monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment
  • Gender-based violence
  • Gender and budgeting
  • Gender mainstreaming: policy development and analysis

The course will be offered from the 1-4 June 2010. The course fee is R4 600 per enrolment.
