Xayata Residence

House Xayata is a student accommodation with its own distinct history, life and culture. The name "Xayata" was founded during 2009 by residents at that time.

Xayata has two buildings, formerly known as Glaskas and Pastorie. Because of this, the Student Management Committee of 2009 saw the need to bring the House into unity, by establishing a common House name, making us one big family.

The name according to the Khoi speaking people means “together we shall”, which was incorporated into the House motto that says “together we shall”.

Xayata was officially launched as a residence and member of TuksRes on Saturday, 12 May 2012 in the presence of the Director of Residence Affairs, the Registrar of the University and the architect/designer of Xayata.

"We pride ourselves to be a res that strives for academic excellent above all else."

The House Parent or Chairperson of the residence may be contacted for any residence-specific enquiries.
