Prof. Kgomotso Mathabe, Head of the Department of Urology at the University of Pretoria and Steve Biko Academic Hospital, presented at TEDxUniversityofPretoria, where she challenged long-standing assumptions about how cancer spreads.
Through the compelling story of a prostate cancer patient, she revealed a possible fifth route of metastasis – one that travels along the nerves, a pathway that may have been overlooked for decades.
By connecting science, compassion, and innovation, Prof. Mathabe calls on the global medical and research community to pause, re-examine what they see, and explore this potential new lens – neurogenous metastasis.
This talk serves as a powerful reminder that even in a world guided by science and data, true progress often begins when we dare to question what we think we already know.
