UP Marketing honours class ‘inzpires’ to succeed

Posted on March 28, 2025

The Department of Marketing Management collaborated with Inzpire Health in an industry partnership, providing Marketing Management honours students with valuable practical insights and skills surrounding the health and wellness industry. The project was completed under the guidance of Dr Danita van Heerden and Dr Tinashe Ndoro, senior lecturers in the Department of Marketing Management.

The project kicked off on 12 February 2025, with Inzpire Health representatives delivering an engaging introduction to the brand. Students gained a deeper understanding of the health and wellness industry, as well as Inzpire Health’s specific offerings. Teams were then briefed on their assignment: to develop a marketing strategy aimed at increasing awareness, appeal, and sales of either the Fithealth Blue Light (a product that supports eye health through antioxidant properties) or NeuroBBBz (a multi-substance health supplement that has been formulated to support energy production and functioning of the nervous system and helps fight mental and physical fatigue) products.

The project required the students to explore various aspects, such as market research, segmentation, promotions, and positioning. At the end of the evening, each student received a hamper with some Inzpire Health products to ‘inspire’ the teams to come up with out-of-the-box ideas.

Following the brief, teams began brainstorming and conceptualising their ideas. They had the opportunity to present initial concepts and engage in a sound-boarding session, where they could ask the client key questions. This interaction provided them with direct insights and valuable feedback from which to refine their ideas.

The final presentations took place on 5 March 2025 in front of a distinguished panel, including:
  • Niel Dass (Director Commercial)
  • Wayne Robinson (Director Technical and Legal )
  • Nirvana Lily Dass (Sales and Marketing Associate)
  • Henriette van Rooyen (Head of Operations and Finance)
  • Pabi Tlabakwe (Administration)
  • Shauney van Staden (365 on Point Sales and Merchandising)
  • Ana de Agrela – joined virtually (Marketing and Product Development)
  • University of Pretoria – Dr Danita van Heerden (Lecturer) and Dr Tinashe Ndoro (Lecturer).
The teams delivered outstanding presentations, showcasing innovative ideas that strongly aligned with the Inzpire Health brand. The panel provided each team with detailed feedback, offering both commendations and recommendations that will help them refine their skills for future industry challenges.

The event highlighted the power of collaboration between academia and industry, leaving both students and professionals inspired by the creativity and strategic thinking demonstrated throughout the challenge.

On Wednesday, 12 March, the highly anticipated winners of the Inzpire Health challenge were announced.

Taking first place was Group 7 (About the BUZZ) with their ground-breaking idea, ‘About the Buzz’. Despite being the smallest team, they made the most impactful contribution.
