Health and wellbeing a top priority for Theology and Religion

Posted on April 03, 2023

Under the leadership of Prof Jaco Beyers, Deputy Dean of Teaching and Learning, the Faculty of Theology and Religion has begun providing its students with free fruit once a week, on the front steps of its building.  The aim of the initiative is both to offer a light snack to hungry people, and to encourage better nutrition in general.

Many young adults, when they leave home and move into student housing, often arrange their meals using convenience and affordability as guiding principles.  So by making fresh produce available, the Faculty hopes to show all those who came around for the event that good food can be just as cheap, and just as accessible.

The student leadership committee, House Theology, provided the manpower on the day, setting up the distribution station and engaging with passers-by, so on behalf of office of the Deputy Dean and the student advising programme, we would like to thank Nelisiwe Mtshweni and Rudzani Selapyane for their contribution toward this project.
