On 4 November and 5 November 2021, members and leaders from the Church History Society of South Africa met at the University of Pretoria’s Faculty of Theology and Religion for their annual conference.

Hosted by Prof Jerry Pillay, Dean of the Faculty, this conference took place both onsite, with delegates gathered in the Centenary Hall of the Theology Building, as well as online.  Scores of church historians met for two days of robust discussion and debate.

In reflecting on the conference, Prof Pillay noted, “We were pleased to host the Church History Society conference. It is a hybrid event with just over 20 people physically present and all others participating virtually. It is so good that in this COVID-19 context we can now conduct such an academic conference.”
