Posted on July 19, 2021

In partnership with colleagues from the RCSD at Humboldt University (Berlin), a seminar co-pioneered by Dr Tanya van Wyk, from the Department of Systematic and Historical Theology, was recently nominated and ultimately shortlisted for the Humboldt University (Berlin) Annual Award for Excellent Teaching 2020.

The joint “Q Kolleg” Teaching and Research Seminar on Religion and Sustainable Development has taken place annually since 2017. The nominations for the year 2020 focused specifically on innovative digital teaching. The seminar connects students from both Humboldt University and the Faculty of Theology and Religion at UP, who form transcontinental teams designing and conducting small-scale empirical research projects together. The seminar is part of a joint semester-long collaboration in which participants from both institutions deepened their knowledge in various methodologies and attended lectures on religion and sustainable development, jointly presented by lecturers from both institutions. The semester ended with an International Conference, titled ‘Religious Communities and Sustainable Development for a Post-2030 Development Agenda’.
