Practical theologians contribute to book

Posted on October 15, 2018

On 25 September 2018 the volume Pluralisation and Social Change. Dynamics of Lived Religion in South Africa and Germany was presented to Prof Wilhelm Gräb. Various members of the Department of Practical Theology at the University of Pretoria have been working closely with Prof Gräb for many years and also contributed to the book. Yolanda Dreyer authored a chapter entitled ‘Material poverty and the poverty of excess’ and Johann Meylahn’s chapter is called ‘Medienwandel / Transformations of media’. Cas Wepener was one of the five editors of the volume.

According to the publisher, De Gruyter, the book sharpens the idea of religious pluralisation by elucidating it against the backdrop of specific religious phenomena and practices. Concepts and interpretations of religious praxis are correlated here in a way that has proven most fruitful in the field of practical theology.
