Prof Wepener on shortlist for UJ prize

Prof Cas Wepener, Head of the Department of Practical Theology in UP's Faculty of Theology, was on the shortlist for the UJ Prize for best creative text in Afrikaans for his book Syferfontein, published by Protea Boekhuis.

A total of 68 titles was submitted for the 2017 UJ prizes, including 16 debuts. Titles on the shortlist were Dorado by Tom Dreyer, Huilboek by Ryk Hattingh, Koors by Deon Meyer, Op 'n dag 'n hond by John Miles, 1795 by Dan Sleigh and Syferfontein by Cas Wepener. John Miles won this year's prize. The judging panel consists of Afrikaans readers from academic institutions and the media.
