I am pleased to announce that Prof Tinyiko Maluleke, Professor in the Faculty of Theology, has been seconded to the Executive as Advisor to the Vice-Chancellor and Principal for a period of two years until 31 March 2018.

During his secondment, Professor Maluleke will be working with the Vice-Chancellor and Principal and key stakeholders on improving the internal and external communications of the University, and the Department of University Relations will report to him.

Professor Maluleke will continue with his academic work for the duration of his secondment. 

He is a respected B-rated academic and researcher with extensive managerial experience at various universities as Dean, Deputy Executive Dean, Deputy Registrar, Executive Director and Deputy Vice-Chancellor. A well-known social and political commentator on South African, African and global politics, Professor Maluleke is a regular columnist for the Mail & Guardian and Sunday Independent newspapers. He is proficient in most of the official South African languages as well as in French and is therefore eminently equipped for this task.
