The ATKV SA Academic Prize is awarded annually for the four best articles in the category Humanities and two articles in Sciences. Prof Van Aarde received the prize for two of his articles that were published in the HTS Theological Studies journal. The titles of the articles are Draai die ander wang – gedagtes oor geweld en toleransie and Op die aarde net soos in die hemel.
