On the programme were plenary sessions, and lectures were presented by scholars from all over the world. Speakers included Rev Youngwood Kim (Chairperson of Chongshin University’s board); Prof Dr Herman Selderhuis (General Director of Refo 500, Apeldoorn Theological University in the Netherlands), and Rev Dr Jerry Pillay (President of World Communion of Reformed Churches and General Secretary of the Uniting Presbyterian Church in Southern Africa, South Africa).

UP’s Faculty of Theology Dean, Prof Johan Buitendag, also participated by giving a lecture, entitled “The Dialogue between Theology and Science and the Orthodoxy’s Notion of the Fall”. The point the Dean argued in his paper was that Reformed Orthodoxy’s understanding of the fall of humankind has unnecessarily impeded the debate between theology and natural science. The relationship then is either indifferent or polemic, and proper dialogue is out of the question. On his way to Korea, Prof Buitendag had a stopover in Hong Kong and visited the Dean of the Lutheran Theology Seminary in Kowloon, Prof Nicholas Tai.
