  • Jacomien Muller (Psychology)
  • Karabo Maleka (Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology)
  • Lufuno Sadiki (Social Work & Criminology) 
  • Shabnam Abdoola (Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology) 
  • Sipho Sibanda (Social Work & Criminology) 
  • Stephan Mühr (Ancient & Modern Languages & Cultures) was elected president of the Association for German Studies in Southern Africa
  • Meja Ikobwa (Ancient & Modern Languages & Cultures) was elected as a board member of the Association for German Studies in Southern Africa
  • The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, in collaboration with the Department of Afrikaans, launched the Dutch Rotational Chair at UP. Ms Jessie Dupont is the first to serve as chair and will teach Dutch as a foreign language for six weeks.

  • Reema Nunlall (Social Work & Criminology) was interviewed on SABC News about children who kill their parents, based on the case of a 20-year old woman who confessed to planning her parents’ murder

 

Presentations and publications on academic platforms

  • The Re.Search Magazine Issue 2 highlights ‘Innovation’ and is available online
  • Sipho Sibanda (Social Work & Criminology) presented the paper “Now the solution is here, social assistance for orphaned children: The Extended Child Support grant (CSG)” at the Dr Zola Skweyiya Legacy Conference.
