- Jonathan Okeke Chimakonam (Philosophy) hosted a Postgraduate Research Workshop on Decolonial Methods in the Humanities, in collaboration with The Conversational Society of Philosophy and funded by NIHSS.
- Karen Harris (Historical and Heritage Studies) has been appointed by SANParks as a member of the Advisory Committee for the ‡Khomani San Cultural Landscape Interpretation Centre.
- Mia le Roux (Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology) hosted a Reading Day at Confidence College in collaboration with the Gauteng branch of the Literacy Association of South Africa.
- Thula Simpson (Historical and Heritage Studies) published the book History of South Africa: From 1902 to the Present.

- The Department of Historical and Heritage Studies will host the virtual book launch of Thula Simpson’s recent publication History of South Africa: From 1902 to the present (Penguin, 2021). The discussant will be Saul Dubow, Professor of History at Cambridge University. The event will take place on 25 October at 16:00. RSVP.
- Political Sciences Departmental Seminar: Resocializing boys to end violence against girls in South Africa will take place on 25 October at 14:00. RSVP.
- Corinne Sandwith Inaugural Lecture: The Social Lives of Print: Circuits, Citation and Public Debates will take place on 26 October at 18:00. RSVP.
- The Tangible Heritage Conservation programme (School of the Arts) will host the Global Consortium for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage’s annual meeting between 28-29 October 2021.
