- Antoinette Lombard (Social Work & Criminology) received funding from DRD GOLD Limited to develop An Integrated Community Re-Generation Model (Phase 2), an inter-faculty and -departmental project
- TUKS Camerata has released a new choral album Written in the Stars conducted by Michael Barrett (School of the Arts). The album is available on all music streaming platforms or contact Helena Vorster to order a CD
- Ntembie Bila (Social Work & Criminology) was elected as Secretary of the Association of South African Social Work Education Institutions (ASASWEI)
- Bibi Burger's (Afrikaans) review of Skepsel by Willem Anker has been nominated for the kykNET-Rapport book prize for being the best longer Afrikaans review published in 2020
- Willie Burger’s (Afrikaans) review of Soekmekaar by Dana Snyman was nominated for the kykNET-Rapport book prize for being the best non-fiction Afrikaans review published in 2020
- Christoffel Botha (Historical &Heritage Studies) was awarded the University Capacity Development Program (UCDP) for his research work on tourism development and tourist guiding in the BRICS countries

- Karen Leigh Harris and Tinashe Nyamunda (Historical & Heritage Studies) presented a paper on the Pandemic Classroom: grouping or groping the digital divide at the Flexible Futures Conference organised by the University of Pretoria, under the theme ‘’Reimagining Teaching and Learning in Higher Education’’

- Jacomien van Niekerk (Afrikaans) gave a keynote address at the Virtual Spring Lectures hosted by the University of Limpopo, under the theme ‘’The new normal: Redefining our lives in the context of Covid-19’’. She spoke as editor of the journal Tydskrif vir Letterkunde and presented on ‘publishing research in scholarly journals: from submission to publication’
- Victoria Graham (Political Sciences) presented a paper on youth participation in Africa at the South African Association of Political Studies 15th Biennial Virtual Conference hosted by Rhodes University under the theme ‘’Rethinking Politics in a time of Crisis’’
- Yanga Malotana (Political Sciences) wrote an opinion article titled Political will needed to fix literacy levels, affected by the pandemic on News24. The article can also be accessed on the Faculty’s website
- Alecia Samuels (Centre for Augmentative and Alternative Communication) wrote an article Digital accessibility in the university space available in the Tukkievaria and on the UP website
- Jonathan Chimakonam Okeke (Philosophy) was Interview by Marcos Carvalho Lopes, Filosofia Pop, UNILAB, Brazil on African philosophy as building systems
- Stephan Geyer (Social Work & Criminology) presented a paper titled "Hey, it is rough out here": A resilience lens on the biopsychosocial circumstances of homeless older persons in the City of Tshwane, South Africa at the ASASWEI Conference 2021: International Social Work Conference
- Lufuno Sadiki (Social Work & Criminology) presented a paper titled Decolonising Criminology in South Africa: A pipe dream? at the virtual colloquium Creating an inclusive Criminology organised by Criminological Society of Africa (CRIMSA)
- Juan Bornman (Centre for Augmentative and Alternative Communication) was interviewed on Good Hope FM on the topic Disability 360, part of their feature for Women’s Month to ensure access to social justice for women with complex communication needs
- Molly Brown (English) appeared on Tygerberg FM to discuss World Literacy Day
