House Humanities is proud to present 3 awards received on the 7th of October 2019 from the Department of Student Affairs for Outstanding Achievement as a Faculty House.
During the Faculty’s centenary year, the House worked exceptionally hard to promote social, academic and student well-being. Some of the events the 2018/2019 Committee arranged included:
• Mokete wa Humanities that incorporated an art exhibition on Intersecting African Humanities – the exhibition incorporated a broad range of African art representing diverse perspectives and exploring the interconnectedness that exists within African Humanities;
• Hosting a successful soup kitchen on Mandela Day in partnership with NatHouse for Students and Staff; and,
• Holding a mental health awareness event to encourage students to express themselves and assist them where possible.
The Department of Student Affairs recognised our contribution and awarded the house a Faculty Involvement award, a Sports award and the Administration and Governance award.
The 2018/2019 committee has shown great leadership and commitment to the Faculty thanks to the steadfast support of the Deanery. We are particularly grateful to our fellow Humanities students for their participation and support in all our activities.
We wish the incoming 2019/2020 team all the best and look forward to more awards under the leadership of the new Chairperson, Lorrainga Mothokwa.
