Dr Rambiritch discusses the UAL’s new online booking system for the Writing Centre

Posted on March 16, 2017

On the 16th of March Dr Rambiritch, Coordinator of the UAL, Humanities Writing Centre, discussed the new online booking system which is now available to students. Read the interview with her below.

Question: We hear there is a new booking centre for the UAL Writing Centre. Why was it implemented?

Dr Rambiritch: Yes, there is. Managing the centre through a paper-based system was becoming an administrative nightmare. We struggled with walk-in consultations without appointments. Consultations were difficult to keep track of.

Question: What are the benefits of the online system to students?

Dr Rambiritch: Students are able to book consultative appointments that suit their timetables. They are also able to book multiple consultations and choose their preferred consultant online. Both undergraduate and post-graduate students have access to the booking system. Students also receive an email confirming their appointments, as well as reminders about their scheduled sessions. Post-graduate students are able to upload their texts prior to their appointments so that consultants may properly prepare to assist them.

Question: Is this a permanent strategy for the UAL Writing Centre?

Dr Rambiritch: Yes, the online booking system is a permanent strategy.

Question: How may students access the online booking system?

Dr Rambiritch: Currently students access the online booking system through the UAL Writing Centre’s Facebook page >> Click here
