Prof Pierre de Villiers, editor of South African Family Practice (http://www.safpj.co.za/index.php/safpj) and CEO of Open Journals Publishing (http://www.openjournals.net/) will discuss the OA journal phenomenon, how it fits in with the OA movement, how OA journals differ from toll access journals and how to successfully publish in an OA journal.

Also on the programme:

• Prof Andries van Aarde, editor of HTS Teologiese Studies / Theological Studies, an accredited UP open access journal will share his experiences on OA publishing;
• Dr Llewellyn Foxcroft, editor of the accredited journal Koedoe, will reflect on the status of this open access journal one year after changing to an online publication mode;
• Launching of OAccr, the list of accredited OA journals;
• Signing of the publication agreement for Verbum et Ecclesia between Prof Dirk Human of UP and AOSIS.
