Congratulations to Dr Gerhard Wolmarans (Political Sciences) on the recent completion of his Doctorate (DLitt et Phil) degree, through the University of Johannesburg entitled An appraisal of the post-1994 ANC-in-government: an application of the political theory of Michael Oakeshott.

Prof Mike Hough retires

Good bye to Prof Mike Hough, who will retire at the end of this year after a career of more than 40 years in the Department of Political Sciences, 30 years of which were spent also as director of ISSUP. Prof Hough’s retirement represents the end of an era in the Department and the Department wishes to thank him for his contribution to our academic work over a period of decades.

Mr Herman Tesner retires

It is with great sadness that staff in the Dept of Communication Pathology have greeted a long standing colleague, friend and mentor. Mr Herman Tesner will have worked in the same Department for 44 years when he retires at the end of December 2009.
Staff wish him a happy retirement and have assured him that the hallways will be very empty and quiet without him. Our best wishes accompany Mr Tesner in the new phase of his life.
