Fourth Winter School, Creative Writing: 24-28 May

During daily interactive workshops attention will be given to the writing of poetry, prose, drama and film scripts.

Joan Hambidge, well-known and award-winning poet, novelist and columnist, will facilitate the focus group for poets, while the similarly renowned and award-winning Riana Scheepers (short story writer, novelist, columnist and poet) will facilitate the prose focus group.

Other participating writers include Antjie Krog (internationally renowned and award-winning poet, author and Hertzog Prize winner), Chris van Wyk (award-winning poet, novelist, children’s books and short story writer), Rachelle Greeff (award-winning short story writer, novelist, playwright, columnist and book editor of Rapport), Deon Opperman (renowned playwright and double Hertzog Prize winner), PJ Haasbroek (award-winning short story writer and novelist), Jeanette Ferreira (poet, short story writer and novelist), Véronique Tadjo (internationally renowned and award-winning poet, children’s books writer and novelist), and Henning Pieterse (poet, short story writer, translator and Hertzog Prize winner).

The course fee is R5000, which includes morning and afternoon tea, coffee and refreshments, daily lunches and two receptions.

There are only 50 places avalaible for the School.

The medium of instruction is Afrikaans and English. Participants may write in their language of choice.
