Transfers
  • As most of you will know, some movements have taken place in the Student Administration Section. Hettie Kirstein was transferred to People Soft Development with effect from middle March. We wish her well for the new challenge. In future, please address your postgraduate queries to Jana Bezuidenhout at [email protected].
  • Lizette du Plessis is being transferred for 25 hours per week as Departmental Administrator to the Journalism programme as from 1 April 2010. Lizette, enjoy the new work environment and the little more freedom to be with your child! We also welcome Louise Bredenkamp, who will be helping out. You are kindly requested to address queries concerning student administration to Rosemarie Marais at [email protected]. Rosemarie will then forward the queries to the appropriate person.
New appointments
  • Ancient Languages has received three new appointments since February. Ronald van der Bergh and Jo-Marie Schräder started as junior lecturers on 1 February, and Susan Haskins on 1 March. We hope you will have fruitful careers at UP.
  • You may have seen the new face delivering the mail. Eric von Benecke has been appointed as relief driver and messenger at Biokinetics. Hope you will enjoy working with us, Eric.
Resignations
  • Prof Deon Rossouw (Philosophy) will be leaving us at the end of March to tackle the challenge as CEO of Ethics SA. Best wishes for this challenge! Our loss is their gain.  Meanwhile, Prof Mollie Painter-Morland (April), Dr Benda Hofmeyr (May) and Prof Marinus Schoeman (June) will be holding the fort.
  • Liza Seife resigned at SAAK as Departmental Administrator on 9 March 2010. She and her husband will be seeking greener pastures overseas. Rhoda Grantham will take her place until the post can be filled permanently. Thank you for being prepared to help out, Rhoda!
  • Bernard van Vuuren of Biokinetics left UP at the end of February to practise as a biokineticist. Best wishes, Bernard!
  • Sinah Seoke of Communication Pathology has returned to Botswana, having resigned at the end of February.
  • Johannah Sekudu resigned at Social Work at the end of January. Best wishes for your new career, Johannah!
Congratulations
  • Congratulations to Pippa Green (Journalism), who henceforth may use the title Professor, since her appointment has been corrected and she has been appointed as Associate Professor.
