- Nomination is open to academic staff with teaching appointments, as well as all academic support  staff at the University of Pretoria (with the exclusion of Department for Education Innovation staff).
- Both individual and team nominations are invited.
- Previous winners are eligible for nomination for novel contributions.
- Candidates may self-nominate.
- Nomination process:

▪ Nominations need to be submitted in electronic format using the relevant application template and guidelines available from www.up.ac.za/ei-awards2010
▪ The nomination should be reviewed by a peer before submission as described in the application template.
The evaluation criteria are stated in the rubric/marking sheet available from www.up.ac.za/ei-awards2010
▪ Nominations must be vetted by at least one of the Faculty’s Teaching and Learning structures/committees and signed
by the Dean for recommendation before submission.
▪ Nominations need to be submitted on a CD or DVD to the Director: Department for Education Innovation.

To be considered the nominee(s) should be responsible for an innovative development that has resulted in improvements to the quality of the student learning experience or environment. ‘Innovation’ can include the development of new practices or products and/or modification or adoption of existing practices or products within a discipline or across faculties within the University, or in the community (National and International). Expected standard of good teaching practice should convincingly

be exceeded and evidence of sustainability (adoption/portability/transferability), positive impact and acceptance should be provided in the form of student feedback or appraisal by peers.

All applications will be acknowledged, via e-mail, shortly after receipt. Late applications will not be considered.
