With more than 40 different performances, ranging from musicals, comedy and drama to short films, those who attend will be able to enjoy new, original works by up and coming writers, directors and performers. This year’s line-up includes productions from Tshwane University of Technology and University of Witwatersrand will be seen alongside productions from the University of Pretoria at the festival.

The performances will take place in the Masker, Lier and Chapel theatres, and the films will be shown at the Studio in the Drama Building at the Hatfield Campus of the University of Pretoria. The Krêkvars Student Arts Festival is proud to be technically assisted by UP Arts, who kindly offer their theatres, The Masker Theatre and The Lier Theatre, to be used during the festival

Tickets cost only R10-00 per performance. They can be purchased at the venue 45 minutes before the show begins. The festival’s official “Kuierplek”, the Bok, offers exciting activities each night.

“Krêkvars is an opportunity to celebrate students’ creativity and innovation. It is a space where they can let their imaginations run free, interrogate issues relevant to their lives and create modes of performance that support their creative visions. Krêkvars is open to all performing artists. If you want to be entertained, disturbed and enthralled, Krêkvars is the type of festival that you need to attend”
said Prof Marié-Heleen Coetzee, head of the University’s Drama Department.

“Ke Nako”, its time to celebrate the Krêkvars festival's 10th anniversary. Like everything else in South Africa, “it is here” so come through and feel it. Come socialize, come experience, come and be part of all that is the Krêkvars Festival.
