Twenty-three honours students attended this year’s symposium. The presentations covered an array of topics and the following fields were addressed: Afrikaans Linguistics and Literature, Applied Language Studies and Media and Cultural Studies. During the symposium’s questions and discussion sessions students received valuable feedback from fellow students and lecturers to guide them in the final stages of their research. The importance of the symposium lies in the sharing of research knowledge. Students are exposed to a variety of research topics, approaches and methodologies.

The symposium provides students with the needed momentum for the last month of research activities. The research projects are completed by the end of November.
