Passing away of Dr Buti Skhosana

Dear Colleagues

It is with deep regret that we inform you of the passing away of one of our colleagues, Dr Buti Philemon Skhosana, Senior Lecturer in the Department of African Languages since 1997. Our deepest sympathy goes to his family, colleagues, and friends.

Dr Skhosana obtained a doctor’s degree in linguistics on the linguistic relationship between Southern and Northern Ndebele in 2010. He initiated that isiNdebele be taught at the institutions of higher learning, and played a leading role in promoting the academic importance of isiNdebele

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, 4 November 2010, at 10:00 in the Chapel of the University of Pretoria.

The late Dr Skhosana will be buried on Saturday, 6 November 2010, at his home village, Kwa-Mhlanga, at the Kwa-Mhlanga Stadium. The funeral service will start at 07:00.
