The Academy strives to promote and reward excellence, and is committed to contributing to the overall development of our country.

All nominations should be fully motivated and the closing date for nominations is 31 January 2011, except where otherwise indicated. 

The following prizes will be considered for awarding in 2011:

A. Humanities:

Stals Prize, Medal of Honour for the promotion of History, Toon van den Heever Prize for Jurisprudence, D.F. Malan Medal, Elizabeth C. Steijn medal, Louis Hiemstra Prize for Non-fiction and D.F. du Toit-Malherbe Prize for Genealogical Research.

B. Natural Sciences and Technology:

M.T. Steyn Medal for Natural Sciences and Technical Achievement, Havenga Prize, Albert Strating Prize for Preventive Medicine, Medal of Honour of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology and the Junior Captain Scott Memorial Medal.

C. Arts:

Hertzog Prize for Poetry, Eugène Marais Prize, Academy Prize for Translated Work, Huberte Rupert Prize for Classical Music, Medal of Honour for Afrikaans documentary television programme, Medal of Honour for Dramatic Arts and the Gerhard Beukes Prize and the Medal of Honour for Visual Arts.
