The day started with a video conference between our social work students and social work students from the Metropolitan University College’s School of Social Work and Administration in Denmark. Students could pose questions and share views around the theme of the day - a global agenda for social work - and the related social realities in the two countries. Prof. Cheryl de la Rey, Vice Chancellor and Principal of the University, delivered the closing address in which she validated social work as profession, which was an inspiration to lecturers and students.
The celerations were concluded on the Piazza. Balloons were released and students signed posters to symbolise their support for the the four main themes of the day. Prof. Antoinette Lombard, our head of department, delivered the concluding remarks and Prof. Sandra Klopper, Dean of Humanities, closed the afternoon session with good wishes to our department and to the social work profession.
