This performance forms part of a national tour to celebrate the release of his debut solo-CD titled Ben Schoeman: Liszt.
Ben Schoeman's increasing status as performing artist is supported by a number of extraordinary achievements. In 2008 Ben became the first South African to win the UNISA International Piano Competition. In recognition of his achievements and his service to music, the University of Pretoria Alumni Association bestowed on him their Laureate award. Ben Schoeman also won the coveted gold medal and first prize in the Royal Overseas League Music Competition in London (2009) and most recently he was named the Standard Bank Young Artist for Music (2011). Standard Bank has also sponsored the CD.
The release of Ben Schoeman's CD is timed to coincide with the bicentenary celebrations of Franz Liszt's birthday and includes, amongst other works, the majestic B minor Sonata. The album is released by the local record label, TwoPianists.
The artist will be available to sign CDs following the concert, and audience members are invited to join in a celebratory glass of wine
