Are you a Master’s or doctoral candidate registered at a South African higher education institution? Would you consider being one of 150 selected post-graduate candidates to spend three weeks at the NMMU George campus interacting with your peers and senior academics, research administrators and skills expertise? If your answer is “yes” to both questions, then read on!
We envisage that this pilot programme will:
· promote a culture of research and social responsibility amongst emerging researchers
· enhance an understanding of respective research methodologies
· hone your writing skills for scientific publication
· hone your poster and oral presentation skills
· enhance proposal/grant-writing skills
· provide guidance in research management and administration of projects
· provide mentoring (1-on-1 and in groups), advice and corrective action by scientific expertise
· provide 3-5 day science courses specifically for Inkaba & !Khure students
· provide interaction with senior science policy and research management expertise
· create an awareness of cultural and social multiplicity at national and regional levels
· engage with local community-driven development programmes and activities, and,
· of course, have fun together!
