Her fields of research expertise are Philosophy of Science; Formal Logic; Philosophy of Mind; Epistemology and Contemporary Metaphysics. 

She has taught courses in formal logic and the cognitive disciplines of philosophy (i.e. philosophy of science, philosophy of mind, contemporary metaphysics, epistemology, philosophy of AI) to students from Faculties of Humanities, Natural Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Economics and Management Sciences, and Education.

She is the President of the Philosophical Society of Southern Africa (PSSA) since 2010 and member of the European and US Philosophy of Science Associations.

She has been married to Axel since 1990 and they have two boys - Franz (16) and Nikolai (7).  Her passions are:
• Her family
• Her research and her respect for her subject – Philosophy as one of the oldest disciplines on earth can enrich every single student’s life
• Her students – she has a lot of experience of student problems at first year level and served on the UJ First Year Experience Committee since its beginning; she has also collaborated with various NGO’s such as Equal Education in the Western Cape over the past three years to try to learn more about these problems and how to go about solving them in SA.
