Best wishes
The Faculty's best wishes to the following staff for a speedy recovery:

* Prof Willie Burger, (Head of Dept of Afrikaans) who broke his arm and injured his lower back during adventure sport. Prof Andries Visagie will be acting during his absence.
* Prof Juan Bornman, (Director CAAC) who will be undergoing an operation on 25 Oct after cancer had been diagnosed.  Prof Kitty Uys will be acting during her absence.
* Dr Esti Janse van Rensburg (Psychology), who is recuperating after a serious back operation.
* Prof Heinrich Ohlhoff (Afrikaans), who is experiencing health problems.

30 years of service to the Faculty
Congratulations to Ms Rhoda Modise, who received her certificate from the Dean for 30 years of service to the University, of which all 30 have been spent in the Faculty of Humanities.  Ms Modise said that she still enjoys working in the Faculty.
