Medu is an avant garde and experimental group that brings together talented students from different cultural backgrounds and art forms to work and create together across disciplines and cultures. The group was assembled by the University of Pretoria’s Department of UP Arts in October 2011, to create a platform from which the positive impact that the youth of today can have on the world of tomorrow can be celebrated. Medu consists of 9 multi-talented young people who are passionate about spreading a message of hope and joy by demonstrating what can be achieved when transcending the challenges of the past while assimilating the present towards a positive future. Audiences are guaranteed an outstanding musical and visual experience that transforms discord into melody, and showcases true diversity and vitality.

Medu has been invited to represent South Africa at the World Event for Young Artists in Nottingham, UK during September 2012.
