Speakers included Ambassador Kingsley Makhubela, former South African envoy to Somalia and currently the director general of the Department of Tourism; Mr Abiodun Bashua, Director of Political Affairs and Acting Director of the Joint Support and Coordination Mechanism of the UNAMID mission in Darfur; Professor Brian Raftopoulos from Solidarity Peace Trust and the University of the Western Cape; and Ms Helen Bichuhi, deputy high commissioner of Kenya. The discussions were chaired by Dr Clever Nyathi, senior research associate of the Centre for Mediation. Prof Laurie Nathan, director of the Centre, will compile the report which will be submitted to the UN Mediation Support Unit.
