PeopleSoft will be offline for upgrades

Posted on April 25, 2012

Non-availability of PeopleSoft systems from 14:00 on Thursday 26 April till 9:00 on Wednesday 2 May 2012.

This implies that these systems will not be available to end users during this period. This upgrade will affect the availability of the PeopleSoft Human Capital Management suite; PeopleSoft Financial and Supply Chain suite, PeopleSoft Campus Solutions (i.e. Student system) suite and PeopleSoft Customer Relationship Management suite.

Consequently the links to these systems from the UP Portal will not be operational during this upgrade period. Furthermore, some of the functionality of various other systems that integrate with the abovementioned PeopleSoft Systems (e.g. Maintenance systems and Vehicle systems) could also be affected during this time.

Note that the same functions to which end-users had access prior to the upgrade will exist once (a) the system upgrade has completed, and (b) the systems are once again made available to end-users. The upgrade will however add new capabilities to the underlying PeopleSoft technology platform - thereby positioning UP to leverage these new capabilities in future enhancements.
Implications during downtime:
• UP staff will be impacted by the non-availability of functionality such as Leave requests; Leave authorisations; Procurement requests and Procurement approvals. Staff are therefore urged to ensure such Leave requests and/or urgent purchasing requests are submitted in advance of this shut down period
• UP Academic staff will be impacted by the non-availability of the link titled “Faculty Centre (LOL)” which appears in the UP Portal’s portlet titled “Faculty and Student Services Centre”, i.e. they will not be able to access the PeopleSoft Student system during this shut down period
• Students will be similarly be impacted by the non-availability of a couple of links normally published on the UP Portal’s portlet titled “Student Centre”, i.e. they will not be able to access the PeopleSoft Student system during this shut down period. Note however that the clickUP (Learning Management) system) should not be affected by this PeopleSoft downtime.
