Footnotes to Plato[1] Presents:

Posted on May 16, 2012

Date: Friday,18th May
Time: 14:30 to 16:00
Place: HSB 3-15.

There will be a screening of a short RSA presentation on David Harvey’s Crises of Capitalism, followed by the documentary film Inside Job.

The recession taking place over the last few years has had many negative repercussions for the majority of the world’s population. All, it seems, except for the richest of the rich, who have in fact benefited from the economic meltdown. How could this be so? How and why did the recession happen? Are these merely economic problems with strictly economic solutions, or could a philosophical investigation yield any positive results?

We live in a highly economically focused age, where value in general is increasingly reduced to the economic bottom line: cash value. These are some of the things that will be considered in the discussion following the screenings. Join us, and share your views.
