Doreen Gordon is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Human Economy Programme at the University of Pretoria carrying out comparative research on race, class and gender in Brazil and South Africa. She is primarily interested in emerging middle classes, how they insert themselves into the economy, and how they negotiate every day, racialized hierarchies and bureaucracies. Doreen is a Lecturer at the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica, receiving her PhD in Anthropology from the University of Manchester in the UK in 2009.
