The Young Innovators Competition is organized within the framework of ITU Telecom World 2012 and aims to attract dynamic, socially-committed young people involved in ICT-based concepts or projects with a genuine potential to succeed.

When: 14 -18 October 2012
Open to 18-25 year olds worldwide.
Deadline for online submissions is 1 July 2012.

It calls for the submission of projects or concepts, from early-stage ideas to working prototypes, which engage the power of ICTs to meet real-world developmental challenges within one of the eight core areas : Cybersecurity, Education, Empowerment of Women, Environmental Sustainability, Health, Human Rights, Transparency and Youth Employment.

The twelve most outstanding entries submitted online, judged on the basis of potential for social impact and business success, will be invited to attend ITU Telecom World 2012. Here winners will benefit from one-to-one mentorship sessions with leading industry representatives, participatory workshops on developing entrepreneurial skills, the chance to showcase concepts and projects at a centrally-located stand, and unprecedented opportunities for networking with key stakeholders from industry, government and academia. Final prize winners will receive awards up to CHF10,000 to realize their entrepreneurial dreams.
