“Sign language: Cross-ocean(s) perspectives”

The two presenters will share their perspectives on the status and development of sign language in New Zealand, America, Hong Kong and South Africa. Dr McKee is an expert on sign language in deaf education and will compare the treatment of sign language in deaf education and outcomes for adult communities in his native country America, his adopted country NZ and and Hong Kong where he has recently been teaching deaf university students.  

Dr Magongwa will give a South African perspective on the current status and policies regarding sign language, its development and promotion.
