The students originate from the departments of Psychology, Human Resources Management, and Educational Psychology. A number of lecturers from these departments presented papers. The University of Pretoria was centrally involved in the development of the Congress programme with 6 staff members serving as Chairs of different Scientific Committee Divisions, one of who also served as the overall Chair of the Congress Scientific Committee.

Two lecturers from the Department of Psychology were chosen to participate in an Emerging Scholars Programme (EPP) for three days. Prof David Maree from the Department of Psychology was selected as the President-elect for the Psychological Association of South Africa (PsySSA) for 2013/14. Prof Claire Wagner of the same department was part of a research team that received the PsySSA/Discovery Award for the best conference paper for their paper, "Taxi queens: Transactional sex and risk behaviour among young girls and taxi drivers in the Western Cape, South Africa".

The Vice Chancellor, Prof De la Rey hosted a South Africa-Latin America networking event to facilitate research ties between countries.
