The first event of the series was the Capital City Conversations: Sounds from 012 on 15 August. The event was held in the Musaion and boasted with the attendance of several celebrities such as Vusi Mahlasela, Andries Bezuidenhout, the rapper Kilobyte and Pretoria based rapper DAMOLA. The evening of music and discussion was a great success and an excellent start to the series.
The second event of the series, Capital City Conversations: The Uncompleted Capital, took place on 28 August. The focus of this event was an academic and political discussion about the character and future of the city of Tshwane/Pretoria. This event also attracted impressive guest speaker such as Councillor Kgosientso Ramokgopa; Executive Mayor of the City of Tshwane/Pretoria, Prof Alan Mabin; School of Architecture & Planning, Wits, Aubrey Masango; 702 Talk Radio Presenter, Prof Mark Oranje; Dept of Town & Regional Planning, UP.
The latest event of the series was the public lecture and dialogue by Barry Gilder, author of Songs & Secrets: South Africa from Liberation to Governance on 27 September. This event was hosted by the Faculty of Humanities, the Journalism Programme and Jacana Media. The South African poet and novelist, Mandla Langa was also part of the event and the discussion.
