Condolences
The Faculty extends its deepest sympathies to Ms Mpho Tshivhase (Philosophy) and family. Mpho`s mother passed away on 22 June.

Prof JB Hartmann passed away
It is with sadness that we announce that Prof JB Hartman, former Head of the Department of Anthropology and Archaeology, passed away on Sunday 30 June 2013 due to a heart condition. Prof Hartman was 73 years old at the time of his death.

He commenced service at UP on 8 February 1969 and was Head of the Department of Anthropology and Archaeology (formerly the Department of Ethnology) from 15 February 1969 until his official retirement on 30 April 2000. He subsequently acted as temporary Head of the Department until the end of December 2000. He was also boarding master at the University from 1969 to 2000.

The funeral service for Prof Hartman will be held on 4 July 2013 at 13h00 in the Lynnwood Dutch Reformed Church, cnr Alpine and Rosemary Road, Lynnwood.
