The semi-finalists are, in no particular order: Liske Potgieter, Levy-Lekula Sekgapane, Goitsemang Onnicah Lehobye, Khanyiso Gwenxane, Palesa Portia Malielda, Sandile Mabaso, and Marina Botha.
These young aspiring vocal stars will take part in the semi final and final rounds in the Musaion at the University of Pretoria. The semi final round will take place during the day on 4 October when they will be performing selections from their programmes with piano accompaniment in front of a judging panel. This round will be open to members of public.
The final round will afford the finalists an opportunity to sing opera and operetta selections with the University’s own Symphony Orchestra, under the masterful baton of Maestro Graham Scott. A performance from the previous winner of the University of Pretoria Mimi Coertse Singing Competition, Christopher Vale, will also feature. The winner of the prestigious R30 000.00 vocal scholarship will be announced at this concert.
