The Capital Cities Project is a new institutional research theme driven by the Humanities at UP that seeks to study and reimagine the capital city.

 Among those working with UP on this event will be Capital Arts Revolution, Pretoria Street Photography, Tshwane Leadership Foundation, Molo Mollo, Art Kitchen, Beats Art Media, The Love House, Borderline, Post Anthropology Movement, Book Lovers Market, Anti-Racism Forum, UNISA Poetry, UP Parkour, Feast@UP, Feast of the Clowns, Café Riche and Dibangos Restaurant.

The event will take place from 11h00-18h00 in the Church Square vicinity, spanning the Capitol Theatre and Atrium, Café Riche, and Dibangos Restaurant. The aim of the event is to interrogate Pretoria’s role as a capital city through the activation of its public spaces through visual art and performance and music. Activities at the event will include art installations, performance art, live performances by bands, screening of films, poetry readings, debates and panel discussions on art and racism, parkour, breakdancing, crafters and more.
