The University of Pretoria and the Faculty of Humanities actively engaged with these countries, the main objectives being:
·       *to strengthen the cooperation between the GRULAC diplomatic community, GRULAC countries and the University of Pretoria
·       *to establish and strengthen long-term collaboration between UP, the GRULAC diplomatic community and the GRULAC countries
·        *to  facilitate academic exchange between the University of Pretoria and the GRULAC countries

As part of this exchange a conference titled ‘Southern Exchanges’ will be hosted from 24 to 25 October 2013. The conference will focus on political, economic and social issues related to the Southern Countries. A pre-conference programme (21-23 October) includes exchange in six different Faculties of the University.
