The Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Pretoria,
Prof Cheryl de la Rey, cordially invites you to attend a public lecture
2013 WORLD SOCIAL SCIENCES REPORT ON CHANGING GLOBAL ENVIRONMENTS: STRENGTHENING THE SOCIAL SCIENCES TO HELP SOLVE GLOBAL PROBLEMS
Presented by:
Heide Hackmann, PhD, Executive Director of the International Social Science Council, and
Susanne Moser, PhD, Director and Principal Researcher, Susanne Moser Research & Consulting, USA.
Every three years, as part of its strategic partnership with UNESCO, the International Social Science Council produces the World Social Science Report. It addresses important social science challenges, takes stock of social science contributions and capacities, and makes recommendations for future research practice and policy.
In this third edition, 150 authors from all over the world and different disciplines offer insights to help us understand the global environment challenges we face. The 2013 report issues an urgent call to action to the international social science community to collaborate more effectively with one another, with colleagues from other fields of science, and with users of research, to deliver solutions-oriented knowledge for the most pressing environmental problems we face today.
